On May 24, 2022, the launch event for the Vidro+ Platform, coordinated by the Smart Waste Portugal Association, took place in the “O Século” room of the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Action. There were approximately 70 participants.
Platform Vidro+, intends to enhance the circularity of this packaging material, in a closed circuit and to give shape to the Portuguese Action Plan of the European initiative called “Close the Glass Loop“, which counts on FEVE (European Container Glass Federation) as one of the driving entities.
This session was attended by Alexandra Carvalho (Secretary General for the Environment), Aires Pereira (Smart Waste Portugal Association) and Adeline Farelly (FEVE) at the Opening Session; Jean-Paul Judson (Close the Glass Loop) was the event’s Keynote Speaker , addressing the theme of the European “Close the Glass Loop” initiative.
Next, the Vidro+ Platform and its members were presented by the coordinator of the initiative, Tiago Moreira da Silva, member of the ASWP Board (where he represents BA Glass). The session ended with a panel where Best Practices towards Circularity of Packaging Glass were discussed, with Luísa Magalhães (ASWP) as moderator, and Carolina Sousa (Trivalor), Luís Assunção (Porto Ambiente), Joana Xavier (EGF), Graça Borges (Super Bock Group) and Isabel Santos (Sogrape) as speakers.
The Vidro+ Platform has 33 founding members, who are united around a common vision and goal to achieve a more circular economy for container glass.
